There’s a quote that goes, “Peace is not the absence of conflict but the presence of God.” God is present among all the conflicts, worries, fears and concerns that we are experiencing in the world right now. I have wondered what tomorrow will bring. I have questioned in my mind, what will happen tomorrow, and the next day and the next week.
The “what ifs” swirl through my mind at lightning fast speed and then, here He is…God catches me and saves me from myself. My mind…my worst enemy at times. BUT God is my refuge and strength. An ever-present help in time of trouble. Where did I get off track? Why did my mind go spinning off into the darkness of worry and despair? I took my eyes off of Jesus. Just as Peter sank when he lost his focus because of the turmoil around him, I lost my focus and started to sink into despair until I cried out to the Lord, “Jesus, save me.”
Jesus saved me. He walks with us every moment of the day. Do I get busy and forget He’s there? Honestly? Sometimes. Life gets busy and noisy and if I’m not careful, I miss that still small voice saying, “Be still, and know that I am God”. Be still, and listen. Be still, and rest. Be still, and trust. Peace be still.
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgivings let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7
Shalom,
Denise
