As we adapt to the challenges that COVID-19 has placed in our lives, lets not allow it to keep us from sharing the Word and love for Jesus. Our society is a negative driven society. We tend to focus on the negative rather than acknowledging the endurance and strength that is built within us during these challenging times. Not to dismiss the challenges, but to let the drive within us, the fire that God has ignited in us, to show the energy we have to grow closer to Him and share His word, His love, and truth to all. I challenge you, to recognize your challenge, identify the positive that is coming from this time. This can be recognizing the fresh air, an increase of time with family, more time with God, or self-care. Reframe your mind and the opportunities that are present. The opportunities for growth, love, and connection.

When our tanks (I love metaphors) are filled with God’s love, purpose, faith, and guidance, we are to help fill the tanks of those we love and are around us. Reading, journaling, praying, small groups, FaceTime, Zoom meetings, writing letters, are just a few of the ways we can fill our tanks to keep our faith and help fill the tanks around us. In what ways do you fill your own tank? How can you help others? In John 15:12 states, Jesus’ command to love one another as I have loved you.

Romans 5:3-5 NLT

3)We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. 4)And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. 5)And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.

As our hearts are filled with love, it is our turn to lead others to love and rejoicing in having faith. As Joshua led the Israelites, Joshua 1:9 states “This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” It’s our turn as Riverside Community Church to lead one another (and others), to love, and find the moments to rejoice during this time.

Let’s pray–

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for Your love and showing us how to love by sending Your Son to die on the cross. Help us keep our focus on You during this time and bring love like Yours to others. Guide us to focus on the opportunities that You have set before us to continue to grow closer to You. In Jesus’ name we pray.

Amen.

Blessings,

Jess
